SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW BIRMINGHAM BEAR IS WAITING FOR CONNIE TALBOT
Connie Talbot, the seven year old singing sensation from the West Midlands who shot to fame last year in Britain’s Got Talent, may soon have a new Teddy Bear in her life.
Birmingham Bear is the creation of children’s TV producer Mike Prince who for many years was a TV presenter on Midlands TV and, by coincidence, was born and bred in the same neighbourhood where Connie comes from.
A fictional back story will reveal that Birmingham Bear has had many interesting owners since he was made in the 1920’s including one or two celebrities - now this wise Bear is looking for a new human guardian.
Prince, who’s developing new concepts and producing media content for the entertainment arm of licensing and giftware distributor The Yarto Group, is in advanced talks with J Management, the management company who signed up Connie in late 2007.
Plans are being developed to produce a series of web-episodes of Connie with Birmingham Bear, leading to DVDs and a TV offering.
Headed up by Marc Marot and John Arnison, who have a wealth of experience in managing ‘A’ list artists, J Management released Connie’s first album, Over the Rainbow last November. The success of the album has led to huge international interest and a phenomenal hit rate of 30 million plus on web sites and YouTube videos featuring Connie.
Simon Cowell described Connie as “pure magic”. Marc Marot of J Management says:
“The magic is beautiful to behold but the real action is about to begin. As Connie’s career develops, there’ll be times when the companionship of a kind Teddy Bear will be very welcome! We’re pleased to be exploring opportunities with Birmingham Bear and the team behind him.”
Michael Grant, Chairman of both The Yarto Group and The Giftware Association, comments:
“The West Midlands and Britain can be proud of Connie Talbot, a musical ambassador with a great future. Birmingham Bear is set to fly the flag as a mascot who’s always there to give loyal support and that’s what Teddy Bears do.”
Yarto Entertainment and J Management plan to issue a further press release before the end of March.
